ARTIST STATEMENT

My drawings are illustrations of personal mythologies inspired by an interest in philosophy, modern physics and mystical experience. Myth for me is a primal, intimate way to grasp the mysteries of life without rational explanation. My images often suggest a connection of mind and matter, visualized as the relationship of geometric and organic form or abstract and representational form. Humor lightens the load! I frequently use my own body or an image of my spirit animal, the toad, to express an autobiographical, psychological involvement with the drawing’s theme. Graphite pencil is my preferred medium.
